In this episode, Glenn and Jeff dissect the qualities of leadership needed to get us through the crisis in the Gulf. They explain why President Obama is more suited to being a Supreme Court Judge or chief executive during boom times, rather than a leader during a crisis. They also talk about how the best of Obama’s campaign/management staff didn’t join the White House, and how the political and senior leadership in the White House act more like they’re running a think tank than they are managing a crisis. While there clearly is a lot of work going on, the communications to date, and the President’s preference to give speeches behind a podium with a teleprompter, have failed to provide the average person with confidence that he feels their pain, the way a Bill Clinton did. At the end of the show, there is a quick discussion of the situation in Israel, and how domestic US politics are changing, which will likely affect the US response to Israel’s blockade. Always irreverent and informative, it’s PoliTalk, your weekly political podcast.
