Episode 84 – Midterm Elections, Women & Communication

Political convention gets turned on its head in this episode. Guest Blogger Jeff, a frequent contributor and friend to PoliTalk, joins Jeff and Glenn to discuss the sensitive issues of racism and women in politics in light of the recent primary elections. Was Matt Drudge being racist in saying that Obama was going “street” in using an expletive to talk about the BP oil spill? Are white male incumbent politicians the new “establishment” that needs to be voted out? Will the debt and deficit rule the next election, or will we find ourselves going to the lowest common denominator and just stoke voter anger to divide, rather than seek to substantively and honestly talk to voters about the serious problems we face? Always engaging and informative, it’s PoliTalk, your weekly political podcast. Best Friends. Vast Experience. Engaging political discussion without the fighting…and with a few laughs!

  1. Don’t even know who this guy is yet – but I can say the PoliSci professor quoted here is a bonehead.

There are no rules anymore for who can jump in and become a candidate, just like there seem to be no more rules in the stock market.

We will see more of this – folks with no political experience jumping in the race, straight talking, and winning.

Now if it could only have been a woman!!!!!

  2. Okay, if guest blogger Jeff comes on the show again, he needs a nickname (I propose calling him GB).

It was very nice to have a fresh voice on the show.

    Good episode.

  3. I forgot- we need to be introduced to GB, beyond knowing that he is a conservative. We know all about Jeff&Glenn, including past jobs, interests, expertise. Some introduction about guest blogger Jeff would be nice in the next episode that he participates.

  4. Ross – thanks for the validation – Needing a bio puts my 15min of fame in a whole new category.

I have submitted a bio to Host Glenn. Lets see how quickly our distinguished host can review and post.

As for the nickname, I don’t like GB – I clearly get it though. I keep seeing that white and red GB (Glenn Beck) logo and feel like I want to start goose-stepping. That was the obligatory Nazi reference because we all know you can’t talk about Glenn Beck without talking Nazi’s.

So in order to remain as far removed from GB as possible, I’ll work on a different nickname. I’ve never been a guy who needed a nickname before, so this is new to me.

Thanks as always for paying attention and participating.

The blogger formerly known as Guest Blogger Jeff

  5. To the person yet to be named… your bio is up.

Ross, when will you be joining our little gang of bloggers?

  6. I’d love to, if that’s an offer.
